It matters. You can upload your conference chat via Hangout directly to YouTube, as you can see here:

The benefit that I like. Also, if you active user in their social network, you don't need to switch sites. The idea is to make it easy and get more views without going to different sites. Of course, you can skip this, but if you want, there is an option to do it. The main point here is Google to force its products.
